Following our long-serving lead singer Andy Shepherd's having to stand
down owing to work commitments, we invite any lead singers to contact
us regarding taking over the role.
Andy doubled electric and acoustic guitars but his successor need
not. But should they double sax it could be at an advantage. If keyboards
this would need to be discussed.
Outcry are a mature, versatile and experienced five-piece rock and
pop band with our own profile in Worthing. We play popular covers
from the 60s to the present day and are not entrenched in just the
music from our formative years of the 60s and 70s - though we venture
to say we probably do that stuff better than most.
We are aware that our repertoire may alter to accommodate a new personality
in the band. Bear in mind we have someone playing keyboards and another
who doubles keyboards on certain bigger gigs. That dictates our sound
and widens our scope greatly - which of course enlarges the range
of new singers who would be interested in joining us.
We need a rock singer with soul, sensitivity, and power when needed
- and musicianship. They will need to be happy to talk to and warm
the audience, as well as sing to them.
We have two or three back-up and harmony vocalists in the band so
vocals will be as strong as our powerful instrumental presence.
For the maintenance of good band chemistry, we need a singer whose
ego is under control - one therefore who is maturely experienced like
us. And, as they say, a team member.
We want a singer who does not need income from
doing so, and is not in another band whose activities will spoil or
cut across his or her commitment to Outcry. We prefer to keep our
lives simple. It results in a more relaxed band. And we end up doing
more gigs . . .
We are a well-rehearsed band and meet weekly on Thursday nights up
to 11pm in central Worthing. Our rehearsal room is provided by the
Worthing homeless charity to whom we donate our fees.
We avoid over-exposure. We play on average once a month but are busier
in the summer with outdoor gigs. We will be doing the prime The Lido
spot when the Birdman returns to Worthing in July.
We have our own PA and soundman but the new singer could do with their
own mic and stand.
If we sound like we could be your destiny (!), give us a call now
on 07832 253486 or 01903 202331, and we'll tell you more.
